Marcin Mostowski has passed away this morning. Marcin was an extremely inspiring teacher, great friend, charismatic logician and philosopher. He has created Warsaw logic group bringing together philosophers, mathematicians, and computer scientists. His dedication to teaching and research has tremendously influenced a few generations of polish logicians.
I was lucky enough to be among his students and meeting Marcin was pivotal for my life. I’m sure that many other philosophy students could say the same. He was the first to show me the world of research and since then his scientific ideas have been percolating my thinking. I will also never forget the intellectual and social environment that Marcin created in Warsaw around his seminars and regular summer workshops; there was so much passion, drive, hope, and exceptionally strong belief in the importance of logic. We spent countless hours talking logic not only in seminar rooms but mostly in various parks, cafes, bars, and parties. Unforgettable times and an amazing community!
Marcin will be greatly missed.
